Alice L. Hughes, 91 entered the KINGDOM of Heaven at 7:53 a.m., Thursday, May 10, 2018, at her residence.

Born September 27, 1926 in Alton, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Goldie (Devour) Manns.

Alice first married Marion Baker who passed away. She later married Mike Hughes, sadly Mike also passed away.

Alice worked as a secretary for Millers Mutual of Alton and later for the Brigman Insurance Agency of Wood River, retiring after many years of service. She was known by many throughout the community.

Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Harp of Missouri; daughter-in-law, Vickie Baker of East Alton; two granddaughters, Britney and Lacey Baker; two great-grandsons, Hayden and Mason Harp; one brother, William "Bill" Manns and his wife Doris of Alton.

Besides her parents and husbands, Alice was preceded in death by her son, James L. Baker.

Alice was an avid bowler for leagues at Bowl Haven in Alton. She first began bowling at age 24 and continued through age 90. Alice was past president of both the Bluff City Women's Association and the Senior Citizens of East Alton Recreation Center, she was past Vice president of the Greater Alton Women's Association.

Services will be private with burial at Upper Alton Cemetery.

Pastor Roy Rhodes will officiate.

Memorials have been designated to St. Jude's Hospital and the Siteman Cancer Center.

Alice will be sadly missed by all those who loved her.
