GODFREY — Archie J. Collins, 93, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, with his family by his side, at Integrity Healthcare of Godfrey.

Born July 31, 1923, in Hillview, he was a son of Archie Bryan and Viola Louise (Moore) Collins.

He married the former Myrtle L. Daniel of Godfrey on May 29, 1954, in Wood River. Archie and Myrtle were blessed to have shared 62 years together.

He was a machinist with Olin Corporation for 38 years, and retired in 1986. A veteran, he served with the 316th Station Army Hospital. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brighton, Western Club and Union Local 660.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Margaret and James Keehner of Greenville, North Carolina, Linda Bierman of Shipman; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Keith Collins of Manchester.

Besides his parents, Archie was preceded in death by his son, John A. Collins; two sisters, Maybell Collins and Mildred Hart; one brother, Everett Leroy Collins.

A celebration of Archie's life will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 at Gray Funeral Home of Wood River, where services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Don Letson officiating.

Burial will take place at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens of Bethalto. Military Rites will be rendered by Alton VFW Post #1308.

Memorials may be given to the First Baptist Church of Brighton.
