COTTAGE HILLS - Bennie E. Jones, 75, died at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.
Born March 7, 1939, in New Madrid, Mo., the son of the late Benjamin W. and Willa Evelyn (Lawhorn) Jones.
He married Elizabeth "Liz" G. Reed on March 13, 1965, in Bethalto. She survives.
He was a 20 year Navy Veteran, and Chief of Security and Director of Safety for 20 years at Wood River Township Hospital in Wood River.
Survivors include one son, Ben Jones of Cottage Hills; three sisters, Francis and Neal Griffin of Austen, Texas, Brenda Jones of St. Louis, Mo., Delores Jones of Sikeston, Mo.; two brothers, Earnest Jones of Road Island, David and Barbara Jones of Columbus, Ga.
Bennie was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Jones.
A Memorial Celebration will be scheduled at a later date.
