Cathy Angeline Lawless, 71, of Godfrey, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at SSM Health St. Louis University Hospital, with her family by her side.

She was born on August 25, 1952 in Erin, TN.  Cathy was a daughter of the late Charles Edward, Sr. and Dorothy L (Ross) Hudson.

Cathy graduated from Alton Senior high School in 1970 and was employed as a Clerk/Bookkeeper with the Railroad at Western Weighing and Inspection Bureau in St. Louis, MO for over 20 years.

Cathy and Ronald L. Lawless were married on December 20, 1974 in Alton.  He survives.

Those left to honor her memory, along with her husband Ron of Godfrey, include one daughter, Kimberly Clark and fiancé Richard Hafertepe of Godfrey; four grandsons, Logan Michael Lee Clark of Chicago, Samuel Thomas Clark of Bowling Green, KY, Brody Joseph Clark of Godfrey, Griffin Edward Clark of Godfrey; two sisters, Carolyn Dierker of Alton, Brenda and Gerald Bland of Alton; one brother, Charles and Brenda Hudson of Meadowbrook; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, step-children and step-grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Hudson and brother-in-law, David Dierker.

Cathy's four grandsons were the joy of her life and she would do everything she could for them.  When it came to Diet Coke, well she absolutely couldn't survive without her Diet Coke. She was a lover of hummingbirds, dancing, music and singing.  She was a member of First Family Church in East Alton where she and her sisters sang specials together.

A celebration of Cathy's life will begin at 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 25, 2024 at Frist Family Church in East Alton, where services will follow at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Randy Vollmar officiating.

Burial will be private.
