Donald Edward Deucker

Donald Edward Deucker, 79, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Christian N. E. Hospital in St. Louis, MO, with loved ones close by.

Don was the adopted son of the late Harry and Louise Deucker.

He attended Wood River High School and served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959.

Don was a letter carrier for the East Alton Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1992. Those who lived on his route would know him as they saw him faithfully deliver their mail, rain, shine or snow.

Golf was one of Don's favorite things. He was blessed to play with his long time friends, Meredith "Chub" Wadsworth, Bob and Charlie Meunier.

Don is survived by loving family Lyle and Nance Zimmerman of Bunker Hill, Sarah (Jon) Zimmerman of Bunker Hill, Amanda and Jason Myers of Wood River, a great- grandson Joshua Zimmerman of Bunker Hill.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving companion, Margaret Burgess.

A celebration of Don's life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River, where services will be at 1:00 p.m.,

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Don will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
