Harold Chinault 1926-2013 Harold Chinault, 87, of East Alton, died at 1;45 pm Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, at his residence. Born September 27, 1926 in Mariana, he was the son of the late William Hays and Nancy Elizabeth (Harris) Chinault. A WWII Navy Veteran he married Evelyn Crider on December 23, 1983 in Granite City and she survives. He was an Electrician for AO Smith in Granite City for 22 years. Also surviving are 5 daughters, Nanette Arnold of Coredelane, Idaho, Cheryl and John Payne, Philena and Fred Olson, Mellissa and Rodger Owens all of Wisconsin, Pamella and Gary Hill of Wood River; 2 step-daughters, who were his caregivers, Debra Gerding of Wood River, Pauletta Cole of East Alton; 2 step-sons, Robert Meisenheimer of Odessa, TX, Leonard Cole of Calif.; numerous grand children and great-grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Parwitt of Oxford, Miss. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by 6 sisters. He was a member of the East Alton American Legion Post #794 Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm Service time Wed., Dec 11, 2013 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. Rev. Steve Gray will officiate. Burial will be at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey. Military rites will be rendered by East Alton American Legion Post #794 Memorials may be made to the Stieman Cancer Center at Washington University in St. Louis, MO
