Harry Lawrence Rush, 96, passed away at 4:45 a.m., Friday, January 22, 2021 at Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Marion, IL, with his family by his side.

Harry was born on July 2, 1924 in Alton.  He was a son of the late Herbert Lawrence and Nellie (Dooley) Rush.

He and the former Virginia (Gossett) were married on October 21, 1944 in Hardingsburg, KY.  She passed away August 26, 1994.

Harry was a Navy Veteran and had been self-employed as a General Contractor for many years before retiring.

He belonged to the Franklin Masonic Lodge in Alton and was a past Commander of the Knights Templar Belvedere # 2.

Survivors include one son, Harry Wayne Rush of Leavenworth, KS; five grandchildren, Jeff, Rush, Alison Rush, Hailey Rush, Benjamin Rush, Zach Rush; one sister, Rita Vincent.

Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Herb Rush.

Services will be private at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River, with Rev. Jeff Rush officiating.

Masonic Rites will be afforded by the Franklin Masonic Lodge in Alton.

Burial will be Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.

Memorials may be given to that of One's choice.
