ALTON ? Howard Schoonover, 82, died at 12:18 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 7, 1931, in Lewistown, Ill., son of Otto and Carrie (Foutch) Schoonover, now deceased. He married Betty Nudeen Durdy Dec. 1, 1950, in Lewistown. She died Jan. 7,1993. He was terminal manager at Clark Oil Refinery of Wood River. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Jon Thronburgh of Hartford; one grandchild, Corey Thronburgh. Eastern Star of Calhoun County will hold a service at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River where visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 20. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the funeral home. Pastor Jerry Wray will officiate. Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana. Memorials will be that of one's choice.
