BETHALTO,

Izola Lee Sheppard, 90, passed away at 9:30 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2018 at her residence, with her family by her side.

She was born Jan. 1, 1928, in East Alton, a daughter of the late Wilbur W. and Beaulah (Johnson) Thompson.

Izola married Arthur L. Sheppard Dec. 31, 1949, in Alton. Art passed away on July 27, 2016. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include one daughter, Kathy J. Sheppard of Bethalto, one son and daughter-in-law, Gary L. and Dot Sheppard of Rosewood Heights; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Lola M. Neely of Altamont.

Also preceding Izola in death were her two sons, Jerry and Larry Sheppard.

A celebration of Izola life will be from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2018 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River where memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday.  Chaplin Jason Pierce will officiate.

Private burial will be held.
