James N. Pleasant, 83, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2020 at his residence.

He was born March17, 1937 in Union Town, Kentucky. James was a son of the late James N. and Elva L. (Gray) Pleasant.

James and the former Sandra Jean Olsen were married on January 14, 1955 in Edwardsville.  Sadly she passed away on October 24, 2005.

James attended the ALBAT Lineman Training Center and worked most of his career for Union Electric Co., retiring 1999.  He was a member of the IBEW Local 649.

Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Myers of Alton; two sons, James Pleasant and Karen of Godfrey, William Pleasant of Lowpoint, IL; 12 grandchildren, Sarah Myers of Godfrey, Vanessa Fillop and Matthew of Wood River, Dallas Myers of Godfrey, Jodi Wislon and Jon of Pontiac, IL, Michael Beason, Julia Sullivan and Brian of Linthicum Heights, Maryland, Emily Tran and Johnny of Chicago, Rachel Pleasant of Morton, IL, Eric Pleasant and Lyndi of South Roxana, James Pleasant of Wood River, Alicia Pleasant of Cottage Hills, Stephanie Luschen of Pennsville, New Jersey; 10 great grandchildren, William Myers, Joshua Richardson, Allyson Myers, Samuel Fillop, Ethan Fillop, Gavin Fillop, Hunter Wilson, Leah Wilson, Liam Sullivan, Rory Sullivan; 1 great-great-grandchild, Greysen Myers.

Besides his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by one daughter, Angela Beason; one son, Eric Pleasant; a great grandchild, Austin Myers; two sisters, Margaret Helen Howard, Dorothy Harper; two brothers, Charles Aldrich and William Hancock.

We would love to have been able to gather together with all of our family and friends and celebrate the life of our dear loved one, but at this time with the Covid-19 Pandemic, we will be having private services at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.

Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
