Jesse H. Lipe SOUTH ROXANA Jesse H. Lipe, 89, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Elmwood Nursing and Rehab of Maryville. He was on March 23, 1923, in Olive Branch, Ill., the son of the late David O. Rosa H. (Kelly) Lipe. He married Dora A. Watson on Jan. 30, 1946 in Olive Branch. She survives. Lipe was a WWII Army Veteran and a minister and taught Sunday school at The Assembly of God Association. He never officially retired. He fought the fight and won the race. He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Lipe of Olive Branch and Rick (Kim) Lipe of South St. Louis; a son-in-law, Robert Haney of Granite City; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three daughters, twins Aretta Jean and Loretta Irene and Charlotte Haney; two sisters; and two brothers. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, at the funeral home with Pastor Ritch Goldizen officiating. Burial will follow in Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
