South Roxana,
Jessie Leon Ives, 88, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his residence, with his family by his side.
Born July 13, 1928 in Bernie, MO, he was a son of the late Arthur and Maudie F. (Baker) Ives.
Jessie married the former Bette J. Robbins of South Roxana on February 14, 1974 in Alton.
He worked as a Diesel Mechanic for the GMC Truck and Coach, Co. in St. Louis for 26 years, retiring in 1993.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Brenda of Highland, Annette of O'Fallon, MO, Cindy and Frank of East Alton; four grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Jessie was preceded in death by his son, Dennis; three sisters, his twin Bessie, Inez and Bernice; two brothers, Chester and James.
An Army veteran, Jessie served his country during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion in South Roxana.
Jessie's life will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Roxana Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Earl Gilette will officiate.
Burial will be private.
