Katherine Tope, 90, passed away at 4:14 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019 at Integrity Health Care of Wood River.

Katherine was born December 6, 1928 in West City. She was a daughter of the late Hirl Lem and Opal Gussie (Dethrow) Cockrum.

Katherine and Peter Hugh Tope were married August 3, 1946 in Benton.  Pete and Katherine had 59 years together when he passed away on October 28, 2005.

She was a homemaker, wife and mother and has been a member of the First Christian Church in Wood River for over 30 years.

Surviving are two sons, Garry Lee Tope of Reno, Nevada, Billy Harold Tope of Wood River; one sister, Nola Lee Bogosian of Orland Park; several niece and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband, Katherine was preceded in death by a sister, Anna Mar Willis and a brother, Charles Ross Cockrum.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2019 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Walter McCaslin will officiate.

Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.

Memorials may be given to the First Christian Church of Wood River.
