Lavon Lea (Simmons) Rea, 72, passed away at 7:15 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2019 at Integrity Nursing and Rehab in Wood River, with her family by her side.

Born February 6, 1947 in Alton, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. Simmons and Vonda V (McGee) Simmons Wooden of East Alton.

Lavon's career as a Registered Nurse, gave her the opportunity of helping other.

Besides her mother, survivors include two daughters, Melissa and John Cole of Castle Rock Australia, Julia and (Jim Knobeloch) Rothe of Bethalto; one son, Timothy and Susan Rea of Woodbridge England; eight grandchildren, Rachel, Rebecca and Savannah Rothe, Iris, Madelyn and Humphrey Rea, Hannah and Lucy Cole; three sisters, Sandra Neal of Wood River, Dr. Sherry Simmons of Springfield, Valerie and Gary Payne of Roxana; two brothers, William and Carolyn Simmons of Bethalto, John and Jayne Simmons of Alton.

A celebration of Lavon's life will begin at 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 20, 2019 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River where services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Payne officiating.

A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at McGee Chapel Cemetery in Marble Hill, MO.
