Pascagoula, Mississippi, formerly of Cottage Hills – Leroy Charles Owens, Jr., 52, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Singing Rivers Hospital in Pascagoula, Miss., with his mother and sister close by.

Leroy was born November 24, 1962 in Jerseyville. He was the son of the late Leroy Charles Owens, Sr. and Beatrice (Bea) Louise (Voumard) Owens, Voumard of Moro.

He graduated in 1980 from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto. He was an electrician for the Ingersol Shipyard in Pascagoula,MS for several years.

Including his mother, he is survived by four sisters, Cindy and James Buis, Sr. of Alton, Gail and Marvin Moore of Moro, Page Morley of Moro, Tammy Bartholomew of Cadet, MO; two brothers, Jerry and Lona Herren of East Alton, Michael and Anna Owens of Washington State; also leaving behind are several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. All will deeply miss him.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Inis Owens; maternal grand-parents, Pete and Louise Voumard, paternal grand-parents, Albert and Miriam Owens.

A memorial celebration of Leroy's life will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2015 at the First Southern Baptist Church on 4th and Stanley Rd in Forest Homes with services to begin at 6:00. Pastor Dan Penrod will officiate.

Burial Will be Private.
