Wood River,
Londos Lee Smith, Jr., 50, passed away at 12:15 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Alton Memorial hospital in Alton.
Born November 21, 1963 in Alton, he was the son of Londos Lee Smith, Sr. of Bethalto and Joyce (Liley)Smith Settles and Step-father Richard Settles of Wood River.
He married the former Tammy R. Roe on May 7, 1994 in Wood River and she survives.
Londos worked as First Mate on the Lewis and Clark Barge Lines for 10 years. He enjoyed working on the river and was know affectionately as the River Rat by some of his children.
Londos loved to fish but more than that he loved Anne. Anne was a cat intended for Tammy; however Londos and Anne became buddies.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Darrell Cox of Alton; one son, Londos Lee Smith, III of Georgia; two step daughters and sons-in-law, Candi and Richard Shores of Wood River, Tiffani Daniels of Wood River; one step-son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Kelly Smith of South Roxana, grandson Camren Davis who lives with Londos and Tammy; Grandchildren, Blain, Autumn, Jacub, Matthew, Evan and Kenzley; one sister, Tonya Meyers of Colorado; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Kris and Natasha Smith of MO, Gregory and Wendy Settles of South Roxana.
Cremation Rites will be rendered.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held Monday, June 2, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 P.M. with the Rev. Robert Ackerman officiating.
