Bethalto,
Lorene Butler, 89, went to be with the Lord at 8:23 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Bethalto, with family by her side.
Lorene was born January 2, 1928 in Urbandale. She was a daughter of the late Cecil John and Anata (Wilson) Crite.
On October 14, 1950, she and Ralph E. Butler were married in Alton. Ralph passed away May 9, 2009.
Lorene worked as a Cashier for the Army Depot PX in Granit City, retiring in 1981.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Robert Ruckman of Bethalto; two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael E. and Elizabeth Butler of St. Charles, MO., William C. and Anne Butler of Alton; five grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister, Mabel Henson of Arnold, MO.
Besides her husband and parents, Lorene was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Shaw; grandchild, Shawna Shaw; son-in-law, Charles B. Knight; two sisters, Irene Watkins, Percilla Bolen; two brothers, Donald Crite, Cecil Crite, Jr..
Lorene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartford.
A celebration of Lorene's life will be at 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.
Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2017 at Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Wenzel officiating.
Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials may be given to that of one's choice.
