Obituary

LOUIS STAMPER
ALTON — Louis H. "Bucky" Stamper, 79, died at 3:03 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, 2015 at Metro Sports in Alton.
He was born Jan. 31, 1936, in Brighton. Bucky was a son of the late John and Verna M. (Winslade) Stamper.
He married the former Wanda E. Lambert on March 7, 1959, at the Brown St. Baptist Church in Alton. She died Jan. 7, 2013.
Bucky was an operator at Laclede Steel in Alton. He and his brother Bill had the privilege of working side by side for 40 years. Both brothers were deaf in opposite ears so they worked with their good ears toward one other in order to hear what was being said. Bucky retired in 1995.
Survivors include an only child, daughter, Julie Marie Stamper of Alton, in August of this year, Bucky was blessed with another joy of his life, a beautiful grandson, Cooper Ethen`Thomas Stamper; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Peggy Stamper of Savannah, Ga.; a good friend of the family, Rob Cupp.
Bucky was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Stamper.
A U.S. Army Engineer veteran, Bucky was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton and Metro Sports in Alton.
There will be a celebration of Bucky's life from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2015 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015. Pastor Andre` Dobson will officiate.
Bucky will be laid to rest next to his wife at Upper Alton Cemetery.
Military rites will be performed by the Alton V.F.W. Post #1308.
Memorials may be that of the donor's choice.
