Margaret N. Skundrich, age 101, formerly of Wood River, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly.
Margaret was born March 2, 1914 in White Hall to James O. and Margaret (Printey) Cantrall.
She married Nicholas J. Skundrich, December 15, 1936 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River by Father Douglas. They shared many years together until he passed away on November 8, 1991.
Margaret worked as a sales clerk for Stix Baer & Fuller in St. Louis, retiring after 20 years.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Steve Kemming of Waverly, IA, Maribeth and Thomas Leigh of Athens, GA; two grandchildren, Samantha Ann and Nate Flaherty of Savage, Minn,Thomas Brian and Mary Catherine Leigh of Macon, GA; two great-grandchildren Zoe and Sophie Leigh.
Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Marie Skundrich; two sisters, Dorothy Brave, Ruth Henry; one brother, Russell Cantrall.
Margaret was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Wood River, the Church Alter Society and Daughters of Isabell. Having loved gardening so well, it was only natural for her to also belong to the Garden Club of Wood River.
She will truly be missed by her children, family and friends.
A celebration of Margaret's life will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.
A Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Holy Angels Parish in Wood River with Father James Flach officiating.
Burial will be at Woodland Hill Cemetery in East Alton.
Memorials may be given to the Holy Angels Parish.
