Obituary

Patsy Anne Mason, 83, passed away at 1:00 a.m. Sunday, June 16, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.

Patsy was born on January 27, 1941 at her parent's home in Wood River, Twp.  Know now as Milton Hill in Alton.  She was a daughter of the late George Marshall and Stella Mae (Brannum) Fairless.

She and Robert Eugene Mason were married April 9, 1958 in Boonesville, MS. He has passed away.

Patsy was a woman with many talents and worked hard throughout her life to care for her family and friends.  She went to college and became a Certified Diesel Mechanic, worked as a School Bus Driver for the Alton School District, was one of the first Hospice Volunteer for St. Anthony's Hospital. She retired her working career after many years of service.

In the early 1970's, Patsy was responsible for arranging the Alton Pride Clean Up Group.

Survivors include two daughters, Michele Mason of East Alton, Camilla Mason of Alton; three sons, Jeffrey Mason of Alton, Michael Mason of Alton, Damon V. Mason and Kim of Alton; eight grandchildren, Bradley, Jeremy, Kory, Tiffany, Panzy, Kaitlin, Kevin M., Damon D.; several great-grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Nessing of Florissant, MO.

Patsy was also preceded in death by two sons, William "Billy" Mason, Kevin Wayne Mason; sisters, twin infant sisters, Nora "Bonnie", Helen, Joan, Margaret, Dorothy, Betty: one brother, Charlie.

Patsy loved to travel across the US, enjoying many states with her family.  Her favorite place was the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee of which she visited many times.  Not only did she raise her seven children but was always in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even helping raise them as well.  She was a giver to more than just her family and never expected anything in return. At Christmas time Patsy with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, would take boxes of cookies, fudge and Christmas candy to the Alton Fire Department's. She would go to the cemetery and decorate the graves of her family and friends for every season.  Camilla and Kim would do for her whatever her need and desire was.  Yes she was a giver and she will be so sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

There will be a private graveside service for Patsy at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.

Memorials may be given to United Cerebral Palsy, 138 Lincoln Place Ct. Belleville, IL  62221
