Robert J. Kiffmeyer, 81, passed away at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born in Carlyle, Ill., on July 24, 1930, he was son of Albert J. Kiffmeyer and Beatrice (Cook) Kiffmeyer. He married Mary Rayphole on April 11, 1955, in Grand Fork. An army veteran who served in Korea, he retired as operator for Alton Box Board in 1990 after 25 years of service. He is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, James Kiffmeyer of Wood River, Mike and Kim Kiffmeyer of Godfrey, and Kenneth Kiffmeyer of Wood River; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Irma and Clint Champlin of Bethalto, Sharon Kiffmeyer of Wood River, and Kim and David Cotton of Wood River; five grandchildren, Zac Kiffmeyer, Nathan Champlin, Jessica Champlin, Madison Kiffmeyer, and Miranda Kiffmeyer; two sisters, Willene Bacon of Belpre, Ohio, and Sarah Rouse of St. Louis; and a brother, James Kiffmeyer of Holiday Shores. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Robin Ann Kiffmeyer, and a son, Lloyd Dale Kiffmeyer. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 6, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River, with prayer services at 5 p.m. Father James Flach will officiate. In lieu of flowers, a trust fund in the name of Kiffmeyer is set up at Laclede Credit Union.
