HARTFORD - Robert G. Sitton, 74, died at 5:13 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 24, 1939, in Alton, son of Oliver Lloyd and Erma Mosell (Cartwright) Sitton. He married Jane Carolyn Cain Nov. 24, 1959, in Wood River. She survives. He worked at the family business at Hartford Lumber Company in Hartford, retiring after over 30 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include three sons, Robert Timothy Sitton of Hartford, Steven Mathew Sitton of Hartford and Andrew Loren Sitton of Dow; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; four sisters: Sandra, Judi, Myra and Marcia; one brother Kelly, and one stepbrother, Kevin. He was preceded in death by one sister, June; two brothers, Harold and George; father and mother-in-law, Jesse L. and Mary Ruth Cain. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20. Chaplin Bruce Baumberger will officiate.
