EAST ALTON,
Ronald L. Reid, 82, passed away at 4:29 p.m. on Sunday, August 21, 2016, at his residence, with his family by his side.
Born October 22, 1933, in Alton, he was the son of the late John H. and Alice L. (Iberg) Reid.
Ronald married the former Beverly A. Schutz, on March 13, 1954, in Wood River.
In 1959 Ronald became the Owner operator of Meadowbrook Tom Boy Grocery Store. Leaving the grocery business he later opened Reid's Wall Paper and Paint Store in East Alton. After working for 38 years, he retired in 1998.
Ronald served his country during the Korean War in the Army's First Calvary Division.
Everyone who had the privilege of shopping in Ronald's stores was always greeted with a beautiful smile and friendly help. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.
Survivors include one daughter, Traci and Jason Main of East Alton; one son, Kent and Pamela Reid of Moro; three grandchildren, Zachary Reid of Bethalto, Jessica Main of East Alton, and Ragen Main of East Alton; one great-grandchild, Braxton Lochmann of East Alton; one sister, Bonnie Segrest of Edwardsville.
Preceding him in death is a grandson, Christopher Reid.
A Memorial Celebration of Ronald's life will begin at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.
Burial will be private.
