Ruth Ann Goforth, 74, of Wood River, passed away at 10:38 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2026 at her residence.
Born on July 29, 1951 in Fillmore, IL, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Edward and Retta Josephine (Weaver) Dodge.
Harry Eugene Goforth and Ruth Ann were married on July 3, 1970 in Hartford. He survives.
She was a stay at home mom while the children were young. Ruth Ann then joined the work force by becoming a Licensed Pharmacy Technician. In 1990 she began working in the Pharmacy Department of Venture’s in Alton and from there she worked at the Beltline Pharmacy in Alton. After 20 years of service she retired in 2010.
She had been a leader for the Girl Scouts and was a member of the Nokomis Sportsman Club.
Besides her husband Harry, she is survived by one daughter, Dana Brazier (Pat) of Cottage Hills; one son, David Goforth of Wood River; eight grandchildren, Vince Brazier of Pontoon Beach, Amanda Crabtree of Jerseyville, Courtney Monroe (Jake) of Wood River, Dylan Brazier (Sam) of Wood River, Deven Brazier of Cottage Hills, Haley Snow (Brandon) of East Alton, Kelsey Holliday (Cody) of Wood River, David Goforth of Wood River; nine great-grandchildren, Trenton Morten, Charles Brazier, Easton Brazier, Craig Zarantonello, Adeline Snow, Miles Brazier, Ayden Snow, Isabella Gloria Ruthann Brazier, Millie H. Holliday; one sister, Beverly Thomas (Leonard) of Kemah, TX; two sisters-in-law, Sandy McDougal-Goforth of Wood River, Marilyn Holland of Edwardsville; one brother-in-law, Terry Goforth of South Roxana.
A celebration of Ruth Ann’s life will begin at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22, 2026 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 23, 2026 at Gray Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Portell officiating.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be given to The American Heart Association.
Ruth Ann will be sadly missed by those who loved and knew her.
