Sharon Shirlene Brown, 75, passed away at 8:24 a.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
She was born September 12, 1942 in Bunker Hill. Sharon was a daughter of the late George Wilard and Verdie C. (Owen) Carpenter.
Sharon and Howard R. Brown were married in April of 1971. They were married 34 years when he passed in April of 2005.
After working for many years as a Cashier at Walmart, she decided retire.
Survivors include one son, M. Scott Brown of Roxana; one step-daughter, Judy Staley and her husband Alan of Marion, TX; one step-son, Howard Ray Brown, Jr. and his wife Nola of Griggsville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Rennie Carpenter of Farmland, IN, Greg Carpenter and his wife Cheryl of Wood River; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Elliot; two brothers Jack and Don Carpenter.
A celebration of Sharon's life will begin at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2018 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River with services following at 12:00 noon. Pastor David Weimer will officiate.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be that of one's choice.
