Shirley B. "Nanny" Hook, 80, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2014, at St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton.
Born June 5, 1934 in Alton, she was a daughter of Benton and Mary M. (Moore) Widaman.
Shirley was a Certified Nurse Assistant and worked for both St. Joseph's Hospital and St. Anthony's Hospital in Alton retiring in 1997.
She is survived by one daughter, Melissa Hook of Alton; one son, Terence Hook of Alton; 2 Grandchildren, Brianna Hook and Dylan Hook both at home; one sister Marimore McKee of Medora.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ellery Widaman.
A memorial celebration of Shirley's life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River with a 6:00 p.m. service continuing the celebration. The Rev. Donald McMaster will officiate.
Burial will be private.
Memorials may be given to that of one's choice.
