Shirley Joan Perkins, 82, formerly of Wood River, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Lebanon, MO, with family by her side.

She was born June 30, 1936 in St Louis, MO.  Shirley was a daughter of the late Archie and Brady Lee (Snoddy) Parker.

Shirley married Allen "Shorty" Perkins August 12, 1964 in East Alton. He passed away March 1, 1993.

After working in housekeeping for the State Hospital in Alton, Shirley retired after 17 years.

Survivors include six daughters, Sandra and Fred Smilye of Wood River, Carron Little of Alton, Joan and Beverly Love of Wood River, Twylah Englar of Wood River, Terry Perkins of Wood River, Tonya and Mark Rawlings of Lebanon, MO; 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon and Linda Parker of Popular Bluff, MO.

Besides her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Denver DeWayne Hoffman and James Larry Smith; two sisters, Margaret Jones and Barbara White; one brother, Gaylon Parker.

Shirley's life will be celebrated from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert Whitford officiating.

Grave side services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
