Obituary

Shirley Geraldine Smith, 83, of Ogden, Utah (formerly of Crystal City, MO and East Alton, IL), died July 3, 2018. She was born November 9, 1934 in Benton, Missouri, the daughter of Jerome and Emma (Griffaw) Greer. A graduate of Lewis & Clark Community College, Shirley worked as an Activities Therapist for Alton Mental Health Hospital for 26 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Festus/Crystal City, and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being active within Women's Missionary Union, as well managing the Cookies for Cops program and the annual school supply charity drive. In the summers, she could always be found watching her beloved St. Louis Cardinals play on TV, often donning a Cardinals tee shirt for the occasion.

She is survived and missed dearly by her son and daughter-in-law: Aubrey and Misty Smith of South Weber, Utah, a granddaughter: Hope Smith, of Ogden, Utah, a grandson: Spenser Smith of Bountiful, Utah, and a sister-in-law: Margaret Greer of Nampa, Idaho.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Jack, a brother, Charles, and two sisters: Veda and Irene.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 10, from 9:00 – 11:00am at First Baptist Church of Festus/ Crystal City, 107 N. Truman Blvd., Crystal City. Funeral service will follow at the church at 11:00am. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials are requested in lieu of flowers.
