Susan Dianne Gray, 66, went to be with her Lord at 10:38 a.m., Sunday, May 5, 2019 at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, Georgia.
She was born January 26, 1953 in Alton. She was a daughter of the late Jacob Ansell and Hellen (Ferrell) Gray.
Susan graduated from Roxana Sr. High and went to Kitzmiller Beauty College in Alton. Having worked at other shops for a time, she was able to open a shop of her own, in her home in South Roxana. After her mother passed away, Susan retired from her shop and moved to Wood River. For several years she worked for Beverly Farms group home #1, then retired.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Debbi Gray of Crane, MO, Janice Gray of Wood River; three nieces, Betheny & Steve Burney of Ellenwood, GA, Kharissa & Mike Hensley of Billings, MO, Kyndrea & Don Hardin of Crane, MO; Three nephews, John Smith of East Alton, Stephen & Denise Gray of Marryville, Seth & Katy Gray of Ozark, MO, & Steve Gingrich of Packwood, IA; numerous great nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister; Karen Smith; two brothers, Laren and Glen Gray, one brother-in-law, David Smith; one niece, Clark Ann (Gray) Gingrich.
Susan was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was very talented in count and cross stitch, baked and direcorated birthday cakes for all her nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A celebration of Susan's life will began at 10:00 a.m. Thursday to 12:00 noon May 9, 2019 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River with services following at 12:00 noon.
Rev. Stephen Gray will officiate.
Burial will be at Wanda Cemetery in South Roxana.
Memorials may be given to the First Family Church in East Alton where she attended.
