Thomas Lee Burgess, 75, of Cottage Hills, passed away September 8, 2022 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton with his family by his side.

Tom was born March 17, 1947 in Clinton, Kentucky to late Earline "Earl" and Margaret (Davis) Burgess.
He was a US Navy Veteran and served two deployments in Vietnam, stationed aboard the USS America Supercarrier in the seventh fleet.
Tom worked at the Amoco Refinery in Wood River for several years until it closed. He then worked for Automation Service in St. Louis, MO before retiring at age 73.  Tom was also owner operator of Gabby's Lounge and Molly G's Bar in East Alton for several years.

Tom loved spending time outdoors, camping, riding motorcycles, swimming and one of his favorite things was spending time with his family on his boat "It's Five O'clock Somewhere".

Tom married the former Debbie (Lewis) McManus of Cottage Hills on May 27, 1983 in Edwardsville.

Also surviving are one daughter, Cindy (Carl) McGaughey of Bethalto; one son Chris McManus of Godfrey; four grandchildren; Molly Weber of Wood River, Matthew Folmnsbee of Bethalto, Erica McGaughey of Bethalto, Carlina McGaughey of Bethalto; two great-grandchildren; Bella Folmnsbee, Joseph Peacher III; two sisters, Debbie Hendricks of Mt. Olive, Nance Zimmerman of Bunker Hill; three nieces, Dawn (Mark) Huth of Mt. Olive, Sarah Zimmerman of Bunker Hill, Amanda (Jason) Myers of Granite City; three great-nephews; Joshua Zimmerman, Brandon Hendricks, and Nicholas Huth.

Besides his parents, Tom was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Carl Hendricks, Jr., Lyle Zimmerman.
A memorial celebration of Tom's life will begin at 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 18, 2022 at The Franchise Sports Bar and Grill in Wood River.
