Toby Daniel Bartholomew, 59, passed away at 4:28 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.

Born March 15, 1959 in Wood River, he was one of eleven children born to the late Theodore B. and Virginia B. (McCleery) Bartholomew.

Toby was a self employed auto mechanic. Having started repairing cars as a teenager, he had many years of experience.

Survivors include a daughter, Shannon Courto of St. Louis, MO; four sisters, Pamela Hawkins and husband Thomas L. of Alton, Paula Vandiver of East Alton, Peggy Kruemmelbein and husband Gary of Bunker Hill, Phillis Brockman of Alton; three brothers, Thomas Bartholomew of Bethalto, Todd Bartholomew and wife Martha of Brighton, Terry Bartholomew and wife Mary of St. Louis; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Toby was preceded in death by three brothers, Teddy, Timothy and Tracy Bartholomew.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. until service time of 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River. Pastor Roy Rhodes will officiate.

Burial will be private at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton.

Memorials may be given to the Abundant Life Church in Godfrey.
