Obituary

Wanda E. Stamper, 74, left this earth to be with our Lord at 4:13 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at VIP Manor in Wood River She was born July 13, 1938, in Kentucky, the daughter of Marie (Williams) Lambert. She was married to Louis H. "Bucky" Stamper March 7, 1959, at Brown Street Baptist Church in Alton. He survives. She was a homemaker. Wanda held many jobs over the years, but she cherished her time as a bus aide for special needs children with Alton School District and with Calvary Baptist Church's nursery. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alton. She gave birth to her only daughter, Julie Marie Stamper of Alton, on Feb 25, 1980. Wanda always wanted more children and she surrounded herself with neighborhood kids, becoming a mother to all. Also surviving are a sister, Faye Elliott of Memphis, Ind., two brothers, Joe and Barbara Lambert of Sharpsville, Pa., and Donnie Lambert and wife, Joan, of Portland, Ore. She was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmie Lambert, and nephew, Kevin Stamper. Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at Gray Funeral Home, Wood River, where services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, with Pastor Andre' Dobson officiating. Burial will be at Upper Alton Cemetery in Alton. Memorials may be to Wanda Stamper Memorial Fund, Laclede Community Credit Union.
